Miami Beach, FL
December 14, 2001 – April 7, 2001

hth_0001 (21k image)Extending the installation at the Palau de la Virreina, Meeting Point, Home Tender Home attempts to engage people at crossroads. Situated on a major pedestrian and vehicular location, The Bridge Tender's House is a historic stainless-steel hexagonal structure fronting the museum on Tenth Street and Washington Avenue, Miami Beach. Designed in the Art Moderne style, it was built in 1939 and saved from demolition in the late 1980s.

Using aluminum cans, Miralda has created a room interior with table, chairs and TV. All the surfaces (walls, floor) inside are also covered with cans.

This installation establishes a dialogue with the exhibition inside the museum, celebrating aluminum as a domestic material in contemporary culture, inviting passers-by to take a peek inside a fantasy domestic interior.

Project supporters/sponsors: Cawy Bottling Co., Ball Metal Container, Starwood Urban Investments and The Louis Wolfsonion II Media History Center.
